Top 5 best cat beds on the market of 2023
Our top five recommendations for the best cat beds on the market. So giving your cat a designated bed isn’t really necessary. But as I’ve learned over the last couple of weeks of trying out these five beds in my home. It can really be a wonderful luxury to give your cat. A designated bed gives your cat its own little territory. A comfortable place that is theirs alone. And because a great cat bed will have an excellent design that suits your cat’s personality. It’s going to be a really comfortable place for your cat to rest.
So after studying the cat bed market and identifying some of the top beds you can buy. I purchased all five of these beds and tried them out in my home with my two cats Tuni and Puchi. As you can see behind me.
So keep reading to find out what all three of us thought of these top five beds.
Our first recommendation is going to be K & H Thermo-Kitty Heated Cat Bed. So this is a nice soft circular bed. It comes in a couple of different sizes. So you can get one with a 20-inch diameter or one with a 16-inch diameter to better fit different cat sizes. And it has this little heating pad inside of it that allows it. When plugged in, heat up to 10 to 15 degrees Fahrenheit, above ambient room temperature. Then when your cats lying in the bed and they’re kind of insulating the heating pad. The bed can rise up to about 102 degrees Fahrenheit or 38 degrees Celsius, roughly the same as your cat’s body heat.
Because it’s a heated bed, it’s extremely comfortable, and can be a really good option for people who live in colder climates and cats who tend to get chilly in the winter. I bought the size large Thermo-Kitty bed and both of my cats absolutely loved it. And I think it was a really big hit in particular with Tuni. I noticed that he seemed incredibly comfortable in it, cozier than he’s probably seemed in any other area over the last couple of years. He was kneading and purring and seemed like he was in a state of complete bliss. There was one time when I picked him up out of the bed and he meowed a lot, he seemed really, really disappointed that he had to leave this bed. So overall, I think that he absolutely loved this bed.
Puchi also ventured into this bed, she didn’t seem quite as obsessed with it as Tuni was. But she definitely also appreciated it. So overall, I was extremely happy with this bed, and I think that my cats were as well. Now the biggest limitation of this bed is the fact that it is a heated unit and it does have a power cord. So you are going to have to keep it within five and a half feet of a power outlet in order to use it as a heated bed. You’re not going to be able to use it outside. But aside from that, it’s a really excellent design, that should be a great choice for most people.
At $47.20, this is one of the more expensive best cat beds you can buy. So if you’re looking to purchase something on a bit of a tighter budget. Then this probably wouldn’t be my first choice.

But what if you are looking for something more budget-friendly? In that case, I would recommend the K & H Pet Products Self-Heating Pad. So at $13.99, this little mat pad is pretty affordable. And it also gives you a really good bang for your buck. For one it is self-healing. This means that when your cat sits on it. It will reflect its body heat and warm up a little bit making it really comfortable and appealing.
Secondly, it’s reversible, which means that you can get a little bit more life out of it. And you can also use that reversibility in order to make it coordinate with the color scheme of your room or home. Thirdly, this pad is somewhere between a blanket and a cushion. So you can do a lot with it.
You can put it into your cat’s carrier if it’s large enough, and you can put it into something like a cardboard box to make a really nice little bed for your cat. So overall, this is a really soft, warm, comfortable pad that is extremely flexible and can be used in a lot of different ways and a lot of different places. It measures 21 by 17 inches, so it’s a moderate size that you again can fit pretty much anywhere.
As for how my cats reacted to it, I didn’t really see Puchi using it all that much but Tuni would spend hours sleeping on it. And I think that he really enjoyed having it available. The soft microfleece pad is also machine washable, which again adds to its convenience of it. It’s very easy to maintain and clean.
And now if you are looking for something on the premium side, you might consider the Felt Cave Wool cat cave. So according to the company, each of these pods is handcrafted in Nepal from ethically sourced wool. The wool is felted and then died. There are a lot of really nice shades to choose from. So you’re probably going to find something that coordinates with your home decor.
Each cave measures 18 inches in diameter, 10 and a half inches tall, and has a seven-inch opening that your cat can go into. Now based on customer reviews, a lot of cats really like going into this little cave. It seems to be very comfortable for cats, whether they’re going in the cave or even sitting on top of it, kind of crushing down the felt so that they can just sit on top. I wondered if part of the reason they were unwilling to use it is the fact that the cave has a bit of an odd smell. It’s kind of an odd, natural animal smell, and it was rather noticeable to me and my cats might have also been uncomfortable with it.
I noticed some other customer reviews saying that they were able to get the smell out after hand washing it. So I gave it a try but the smell still remained after one wash. So it is possible that it could take a little bit more time to get the smell out. Again, this is an extremely popular product a lot of cats really enjoy it and a lot of people also seem to love this cave.
So overall, if you’re looking for a well-made high-quality bed that will appeal to cats who like to kind of burrow and hang out in confined spaces. Then I would definitely consider the Felt Cave cat cave. The bed cost $49.99.

Our next recommendation is also going to be a good option for cats who like to hang out in enclosed spaces. But it’s a little bit more economical than the Felt Cave Wool cat cave mentioned earlier. So this is the Armarkat Cave Shaped Covered cat and dog bed. So this is an oblong little bed. To me, it looks a bit like a slipper, a gigantic slipper.
The inside of the bed is lined with a soft plushy material and it has a very soft pillow that lines the bottom of it. The bed is only available in one size. So it is 18 inches long by 14 inches wide by 12 inches high. The bed is machine washable, so it’s really easy to maintain.
And according to customer reviews, it seems to last for a pretty long time. Now in my experience using this bed. I found that this was probably my cat Puchi’s favorite of the beds we tried. So she immediately started using it.
I put it underneath my desk and I noticed that she was sleeping in it regularly at night and hanging out in it during the day. As I mentioned in some other articles. She likes hiding out in little enclosed spaces, so it was no surprise that this bed suited her personality.
So overall, if you’re looking for a soft, comfortable bed that allows your cat to hang out in an enclosed space. I would definitely recommend the armor cat cave-style covered bed and it’s also a moderately priced option at $36.73.
And our last recommendation is going to be a good option if you want a window bed. A bed that allows your cat to sit and look out of the window. Now there are a few different options for cats who are birdwatchers. Maybe you can put a tree next to a window or even a chair. But providing this type of designated bed is also a really good option.
The K & H Pet Products EZ Mount Window Perch is one of the most popular options on the market and I had a really good experience with it. So this is a little perch that attaches with suction cups to your window and allows your cat to lounge and look out really easily. It has a robust steel frame and it’s capable of supporting up to 100 pounds.
It has this soft faux fleece mat that is really comfortable for cats to sit on, and in my experience, it worked quite well. Now I’ve noticed some reviews saying that it’s kind of difficult to get the suction cups to attach to the window properly. There is a bit of a process involving soaking the suction cups, making sure that everything is clean, and then attaching them carefully. I personally didn’t have any issues, I attached the suction cups to the window and then my cats were using the bed, and I haven’t noticed it falling down or having any other issues.
It measures 12 by 23 inches and it seems to be a good size for almost all cats. I didn’t notice my cat’s going on to it by themselves. I really had to encourage them to go on it but when Tuni was on it. He seemed to really enjoy sitting there and looking out of the window. That being said, I can’t say that it was his favorite. Maybe I put it on the wrong window or he just hadn’t had enough time to get used to it. At any rate, my cats didn’t seem all that interested in this bed.
That being said, if your cat is an avid birdwatcher and really likes looking out of the window, I think that it could be an outstanding option. It’s also a really good option for small spaces because it does mount to the window and it’s not going to take up a lot of space on your floor. Overall it seems to be a pretty subtle and convenient option that’s easy to integrate into your home.
So I think that about covers it for our review of the best cat beds you can buy. Again a cat bed is not really a necessary part of a feline-inclusive home, you could really get away with having your cat sleep on your own bed or chairs. But giving your cat a really good bed can really elevate its experience in the home. I definitely saw evidence of that during the last couple of weeks. So again, I hope that you found this article helpful. Thank you so much. Bye
